DotMusic Limited wins rights to .Music domain name extension

December 14, 2019 By Amused Leave a Comment

Constantine Roussos, a Greek-Cypriot entrepreneur, musician, songwriter, engineer, producer, and CEO of DotMusic recently had his application approved for managing the registration of .Music domain names.

The intent behind creating the  .music name extension is to provide music publishers, composers, and songwriters throughout the world the opportunity to claim and protect their names against cybersquatters.

A verification process will be implemented to ensure that .music domain names are only registered to artists who have a legitimate claim to the requested name.

Gadi Oron, Director General of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), said, “As the world’s largest global network for creators, with member societies in over 120 countries, CISAC welcomes the .Music domain and the opportunities it can create to develop a stronger and more responsible environment for licensed music.”

At College Music, we find and showcase the latest work from up and coming artists. Whether you’re about to go out, having a party or just relaxing; we aim to represent something exciting, attractive and inviting. The name originated because a small group of friends while at college struggled to find music which had originality and didn’t conform to the generic “pop” which was consistently released to the public. College Music is about new music from unheard artists and providing a platform for them to be heard by listeners like us. We firmly believe that a brand’s name, ethos, and content should all align together. For us, our name ties in perfectly.
